It has been a turbulent year for macom founder and former CEO Björn Jensen. macomGROUP has been part of Drees & Sommer since the beginning of 2023. After 20 successful years at the helm of his company, he is handing over the reins. With the strategic succession plan, he sets the course for further growth and internationalization. The next milestone in his vision of the world market leader for media technology consulting and specialist planning, which has caused quite a stir.

Yesterday, Professional System recognized this milestone with the “Industry Member of the Year” award. At this year’s AVard award ceremony in Hamburg on October 19, Björn Jensen was able to accept the coveted trophy in person.

The AVard is the first ProAV award in Germany and honors the best projects and products as well as companies and minds in the industry. The Industry Member of the Year award recognizes individuals or companies that have made a name for themselves through innovative ideas or a strong commitment to the AV industry.

As a passionate entrepreneur, Jensen has always had a feel for market developments and potential, a strong will to implement his ideas, and a big heart for media technology. The success story began in 2003 with the focus on the core competencies of AV and IT planning. In 2017, he took the step into international business with the foundation of macom UK Ltd. His consultancy Björn Jensen Management Consulting offers strategic support especially for companies in AV and IT.

Jensen was a pioneer, initiating topics such as “AV goes IT” or “AV as a service” in the industry early on and always investing in innovation with the establishment of macomLab or the XR startup mindfine. Very important to him were also the cooperation with universities such as HAW Hamburg and the promotion of young talent through education and training programs for young talents for the AV market.

Björn Jensen is not a technician. He is a businessman, a strategist, a visionary – with an eye for the big picture, a philanthropist and a true industry personality.
